REVEL Unveils Third Expression in its Award-Winning Line of Agave Spirits

Press Releases Beverages

A trifecta two years in the making, Añejo adds even further depth and complexity to the brand’s Avila® offerings in North America

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — REVEL Avila®, an artisanal, award-winning agave-based spirit which hails from the southern Mexican state of Morelos, today took the wraps off of its third expression – Añejo. Like the brand’s Blanco and Reposado expressions, Añejo will appeal to those looking to expand their own horizons in the world of agave spirits, offering a distinct and unique flavor profile that only REVEL can offer. REVEL Avila is manufactured and imported exclusively by Revel Spirits.

At 96 proof and made from the same 100% pure Blue Weber agave as REVEL’s award-winning Blanco and Reposado, Añejo is a masterful blend of roasted and steamed piñas. The spirit is triple distilled and rested in French oak barrels for 24 months, which helps produce its deep rich color. REVEL Avila Añejo delivers an intense complexity with nuances of caramel, dried fruit and cognac. REVEL Avila should be enjoyed neat for a memorable and incredible experience.

“Añejo is the culmination of countless hours spent by our master distiller perfecting its flavor profile, as well as the efforts of our farmers and jimadors who nurture our agave from seed to harvest,” said Micah McFarlane, CEO and co-founder of Revel Spirits. “As the saying goes, good things come with age, and that’s exactly what you’ll find with each sip of REVEL’s Añejo. We’re looking forward to building the Avila category even further and ensuring that agave aficionados around the world will come to know what Morelos and its terroir have to offer.”

Avila is an entirely new category of agave spirits and exists alongside the likes of tequila, mezcal, sotol and baconora. Avila can only be produced using agave grown and distilled in the Morelos region, a small state in the south central part of Mexico with a distinctive terroir that’s evident in the taste of the final product. REVEL Avila is handcrafted using only 100% pure Blue Weber agave and a blend of roasted and steamed bulbs or piñas, a process that marries the old-world characteristics of mezcal with newer tequila-like techniques.

Sold in upscale bars and liquor stores in Minnesota, California and New York, REVEL Avila Añejo will start shipping this December for an SRP of $150.00 (750 ml). It joins REVEL Avila Blanco (SRP $55.00), which is immediately bottled after distillation, and Reposado (SRP $75.00), which is aged for 12 months in a once-used whisky oak barrel to provide a scotch-like taste.
