Modelo® Opens ‘Virtual Bar’ for National Michelada Day
The Official Beer for Micheladas(TM) celebrates the ultimate beer cocktail with its fans on Facebook LIVE to create ‘The Model Michelada’
Chicago, Ill., July 6, 2016 – With summer in full swing, Modelo Especial – The Official Beer for Micheladas(TM) — is paying tribute to a timeless Mexican cerveza preparada and the season’s best cocktail on National Michelada Day, July 12.
As a part of its Modelo Michelada Week, the #2 imported beer in America is asking its fans to share how they prepare their beers or chelas through the brand’s Facebook page. From the beer and the mixer to the spice and the garnish, Modelo will create the first fan-inspired michelada – The “Model” Michelada – and reveal the recipe on National Michelada Day at a “virtual bar” on Facebook. The brand will also give its fans the chance craft a michelada during the bar experience on Facebook LIVE. Fans can tell the brand what they like in their michelada during the broadcast and Chicago mixologist, Dylan Stewart, will make it live.
The michelada, one of the most popular drinks in Mexico and quickly becoming a mainstay on bar menus across the U.S., is a beer-based cocktail that is often made with tomato, lime and spices, served over ice in a glass with a salted rim for a refreshing beverage to enjoy all year long. And it’s a part of a larger beer trend: there’s been a 30 percent climb in menu appearance of beer based cocktails in the U.S from 2013 to 2014. However, there are many variations on the michelada recipe depending on regions in Mexico, occasions and, of course, family traditions.
