General Mills to close Commerce, Calif., facility

COMMERCE, Cali & MINNEAPOLIS, June 13, 2013 – General Mills announced today it plans to close its baking mix operation in Commerce, Calif. The facility produces baking mix products for the company’s foodservice business.

This decision will consolidate manufacturing and create additional operating efficiencies, with production being transferred to other facilities in the General Mills supply chain.

The closure will affect 33 employees. General Mills will provide severance benefits and other assistance to affected employees.

General Mills has operated the plant in Commerce since 1969.
